TE HONO RAU group
According to this people, a man whose name was Hakumaka had a dream. His spirit found Easter Island at dawn and called it Te lito (the navel of the world). Scientists are trying since many years to find out the origin of their ancestors. This people counts great navigators, astronomists, sculptors, warriors, carvers. Politically, Easter Island belongs to Chile since 1888, and now traditions and culture try to survive 120 years of occupation, with a differen foreign language and mentality. The continuità and preservation of the Maori language and identity is the most important goal of this people. All the members of this group are MAORI RAPA NUI, polynesians of Easter Island and they represent their culture through theater performances and “body paint”, songs, KOKO dances and ancient poems.
