Makás, Mac'as o Macás are indigenous people from boreal Chaco in Paraguay and Argentina nowadays living mainly in the new Indigenous Colony Maka, located in Mariano Roque Alonso, and in some suburbs of Asuncion , as well as in the Argentinian province of Formosa ( town of Clorinda ) . According to the indigenous census of Paraguay , the Maka community was counting 608 people in 1981 , 1061 in 1992 and 1282 in 2002 ( 249 living in Boreal Chaco) . Census in 2002 revealed that 77.4% of Makas live in urban areas.
