tufi Papua Nuova Guinea

There are hundreds of indigenous groups in Papua Nuova Guinea. The Papuanese group is the biggest one. Their ancestors arrived in Nuova Guinea tens of thousands years ago. The other indigenous people are Austronesians and their ancestors arrived in this region less than 4.000 years ago. There are also consistent minority groups of Chinese, Europeans, Australians, Philippines, Indians and Sri Lankans. The English language is taught in the schools but Papua New Guinea is the country where there are more languages than anywhere else in the world, over 800 different idioms, nearly a fifth of all languages that are spoken on our planet. Each tribe had its own traditions and animist faith, which have remained the same until now. The different tribes always fought against each other with sad consequences. Due to this diversity, of which the different tribes are very proud, there are also many different cultural styles, expressed by each group in their architecture, arts, dances, arms, clothing, chants and music. Clothing was introduced in recent times. Today there are clans, extended families within which survival is ensured to each other.
